UTICA COLLEGE – TV : Student Perspective – Why Choose the Cybersecurity Program.

You have several options to choose from when deciding to pursue a degree in Cybersecurity. Apart from questions on accreditation and curriculum quality, other concerns like “Should I attend an online or on-campus program?”, “Will the class size be so large that no one knows my name?”, or “Will my faculty help advise me on career choices?”, can also be factors that impact your student experience and success.

In this video, Cybersecurity student Patrick McHarris, explains to UCTV Host, Dr. James Norrie, the many reasons why he choose to enroll in the Cybersecurity program at Utica College.

Video Transcript: Student Perspective – Why Choose the Cybersecurity Program.

Dr. Norrie: Welcome back to UCTV. My name is Dr. James Norrie. I'm the Dean of Business and Justice Studies here at Utica College. And I'm joined today by a student, Patrick McHarris. So Patrick, you're a student in one of our programs. What program is that?

Patrick McHarris: Currently I'm in the Cybersecurity program.

Dr. Norrie: What made you pick cybersecurity?

Patrick McHarris: It was one of those up and coming fields where it really sparked my interest. Locally, I live right in Clinton, and what better place to come than Utica College? It's right in my backyard.

Dr. Norrie: Right. And whether you live in our backyard right here in upstate New York or whether you're one of our online students across the nation, you can join this incredible program. Now, tell me a little bit about your experiences in the classroom.

Patrick McHarris: Everything about the program I loved. They give real life, practical experience. And they actually give you useful advice throughout your experience here at Utica College. And knowledgeable, personable, and you know they would do anything for you, from staying after class, coming in after hours.

They'll just do it for you. If you want to make the time, they'll make the time. I'd have to say one of my favorites would be Professor Rick Gloo. He's a great professor. He works locally up at AIS in Rome. Actually, that's where I'm doing my internship. And he's really sparked my interest in the program.

Dr. Norrie: Great. Well, if you want to find out more about how you can join the ranks of our successful students just like Patrick, who, of course, is graduating and on his way to his job as he said, why don't you go to http://programs.online.utica.edu/programs/security.asp and check out our programs in cybersecurity, cyber policy, economic crime, and criminal justice. We have all of them ready for you.
