What is unique about this program?
Utica College’s online MS in Data Science is one of the few to focus on social data (meaning data that focuses on people, their preferences and their behaviors), and especially on applied research for societal and business applications.

Do I have to choose a specialization?
Each student must complete 12 credits in a specialization area including Business Analytics, Social Science, Cybersecurity or Financial Crime. You can opt for the General track, in which you can select any four 3-credit graduate level courses available (with approval from the program director).

How many credits are required?
The program requires 30 credits, 18 in “core” data analytics and research methods coursework and 12 credits in your chosen specialization.

How long will it take to complete this program?
By taking two classes each semester, you can finish in as soon as 20 months.

Do I need a technical or mathematics background to be admitted?
No, there are no requirements for career experience or specific bachelor’s degrees.
