Brandon Bean, a native of Ohio, is an Active Duty Warrant Officer in the United States Army. He has served in multiple capacities in his 20 years of service; he began his service as a UH-60 Blackhawk Crew chief and Flight Instructor; transitioned to Human Intelligence Collection Technician and Interrogator; and currently serves as a Detachment Commander and Data Scientist. In his current role he conducts Identity Management research on behalf of the Department of Defense.
Professor Bean earned his Bachelor of Science in Information Systems Management and Master of Science in Data Analytics from the University of Maryland University College. His research evaluated novel approaches to identifying identity and credentialing fraud in Department of Defense systems. He has experience with Java, R, Python, SAS, RapidMiner, Apache Spark, BigML, IBM Watson, MySQL, Cassandra, and MongoDB. He has been a featured guest speaker at several Data Science and Insider Threat conferences in the San Francisco Bay Area.
