Janice Ceccucci, DNP, FNP-BC, Assistant Professor of Nursing in the School of Health Professions and Education, completed her bachelor of nursing and master’s degree as a family nurse practitioner from SUNY Polytechnic Institute in an accelerated program. She earned her doctor of nursing practice at Upstate Medical University. Her doctoral project, “Evaluating Nurse Practitioners’ Perceived Knowledge, Competence and Comfort Level in Caring for the Sexually Abused Child,” was published in the Journal of Forensic Nursing.
Ceccucci brings with her more than 15 years of experience in nursing and emergency medicine, including forensic nursing for victims of sexual assault. She has practiced in primary care and tele-health services. She also holds multiple certifications and is a frequent presenter at regional and national conferences.
Ceccucci was named the 2019 New York State Nurse Practitioner of the Year by Nurse Practitioner Association of New York State. She has won several other awards including the Joan Unger Memorial Award from the New York State Coalition Against Sexual Assault and the Nursing Excellence Award, from the Omicron at-Large Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, for her work with a vulnerable population.
