Our online Nursing Home Administrator certificate fulfills the education requirement for licensure* in the state of New York. Students will learn management and long-term health care topics, and cover everything from ethical and legal issues to finance, gerontology, and human resource management.
Graduates of the Nursing Home Administration certificate program can also seamlessly transition to our online Master of Health Administration program, and continue with their education.
*The online NHA certificate fulfills course requirements for licensing in New York. It completes one requirement for Nursing Home Administrator Licensure by New York State Department of Health. Potential applicants should check with their state’s licensing agency or contact an Enrollment Counselor at (315) 732-2640 or toll-free at (866) 295-3106 to verify the necessary coursework. Faculty advisers are also available to work with students to offer guidance and help meet the academic requirements of this field.

CORE COURSE REQUIREMENTS
Review literature relevant to the study of gerontology and consider current and future aging issues and career opportunities.
This course presents an overview of legal and ethical issues health care administration. Students will explore a wide variety of health care legal and ethical situations and dilemmas and develop a foundation of knowledge of health law and ethical decision-making. The course stresses practical knowledge of health laws and ethics and their application in the real world of health care.
Learn how to understand and manage human behavior in health care organizations. You’ll explore legal aspects and evaluation as well as employee motivation, collective bargaining, and recruitment.
