Welcome to the Utica University online Master of Social Work!
As you explore our curriculum and approach, you will see for yourself that Utica University’s online MSW in Clinical Social Work is a rigorous, yet flexible program. We designed the MSW to accommodate your work and family life, so coursework may be taken on a full- or part-time schedule. Regardless of your chosen pathway, however, our goal is to produce excellent social work clinicians who are committed to social justice and recovery.
The curriculum is steeped in evidence-based knowledge that incorporates recovery principles with traditional clinical social work approaches, and all academic and field coursework is designed to help you become a better mental health practitioner. Even research courses focus on applying research to clinical practice. Courses in mental health advocacy and mental health policy will inform your thinking about the clinical issues presented in the field.
Because a defining feature of the social work profession rests on a commitment to social justice, our MSW program strives to build a community of scholars who appreciate the value of collaboration with one another as peers, honoring diversity in age, socioeconomic status, cultural heritage, ethnicity, color, faith, residence in urban or rural settings, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, lived experience of recovery, and academic background.
We hope that you agree that our program is unique in its singular focus on the promotion of mental health and resilience among vulnerable and marginalized populations.
We invite you to join us on the journey to becoming an expert clinical social worker.
