Getting Started
How to Use Uwill
While taking online classes at Utica, you can connect with Uwill’s licensed therapists at no cost. You will start with 240 teletherapy credits, which you can use to join sessions in three formats:
- Video or phone sessions: 30 credits for 30 minutes
- Chat sessions: 15 credits for 15 minutes
- Messaging: 5 credits for a two-way exchange
Making Your First Appointment
Connect with a Uwill counselor in three steps:
1. Create Your Profile
- Use your school email address to register for Uwill
- Add the basic profile details, including your reason for signing up and emergency contact information
- Check your email for a message asking you to verify your account
2. Schedule an Appointment
- Find a counselor who matches your preferences
- Select a date and time for your appointment
- Choose the appointment type you prefer — video, phone, or chat
3. Talk With a Counselor
- You will receive an email reminder an hour before your appointment
- Start the appointment by clicking the link in your email reminder or by visiting the Uwill website

When your appointment begins, you’ll connect with a licensed mental health professional. Each counselor in Uwill’s network has clinical experience and possesses one of the following or a similar credential:
- Doctoral level licensed psychologists
LP, PhD, PsyD, or the state’s equivalent of an independently licensed psychologist - Master’s level licensed clinical social workers
LCSW, LICSW, or the state’s equivalent of an independently licensed social worker - Master’s level licensed marriage and family therapists
LMFT — or the state’s equivalent of an independently licensed marriage and family therapist - Master’s level licensed counselors
LPC, LPCC — or the state’s equivalent of an independently licensed counselor

Yes. Uwill is HIPAA and FERPA compliant, which means the company follows the strictest privacy guidelines. Uwill never shares your data — even on an anonymized basis — with any third party without consent.
You will work with counselors who generally take a solutions-oriented, holistic perspective to treatment with a focus on providing specific coping skills to address the issues you are facing. To accomplish this, counselors use various approaches, including but not limited to:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
- Mindfulness-Based Therapy
You may cancel a scheduled appointment up to 24 hours prior to the appointment time without using credits. If you cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice, Uwill will process 50% of the credits for that appointment. For example, if you cancel a 30-credit video session with less than 24 hours’ notice, 15 credits will be deducted. If you do not cancel and miss the appointment, Uwill will deduct 30 credits as if the session had occurred.
